Prayers for Austin

Austin Hewitt 2018Ewing’s Sarcoma? Have you heard of it? Ewing’s Sarcoma is a cancer in the bone or the soft tissue around the bones. Most often it is found in the legs, pelvis, ribs, arms, spine, and clavicle. As with many cancers there are not a lot of options for early detection.  Our hearts go out to the family of Austin Hewitt. We have known this young man for many years now. Unfortunately this is not Austin’s first battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma. For Austin, the cancer presented itself in his big toe in 2016. He underwent all recommended treatments and stayed positive throughout the entire process. Austin recently went to his follow-up appointment and they found the cancer has returned in his ankle of the same foot. Please keep Austin and his family in your thoughts and prayers.  Austin has a passion for Theater and Performing Arts and is entering his senior year to be a 2019 Graduate of Eastern High School. Austin will have many upcoming appointments and treatments at Riley Children’s Hospital. The drive to and from these appointments can be exhausting physically, emotionally, and financially. We are asking for your help. Donations will be accepted here at our office and help with the expenses of travel and medical bills.

We all know and love someone affected by cancer.

Keep up the fight!

Relay is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. Each event is 6-24 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don't stop because they're tired, and for one night, neither do we.

Overwhelming Patient Generosity
Posted on March 12, 2018
We wanted to send a huge THANK YOU to all of our patients who, so graciously, donated to our fundraiser for Kristina Buffington.  Kristina is one of our dental assistants.  Kristina, along with her two young children, were involved in a car accident the week before Christmas.  A semi ran a red light and hit their vehicle.  Unfortunately, her 12 year old daughter, Amanda, passed away in the accident.  Her 8 year old son is home and healthy.  Kristina was recently moved to a rehabilitation facility, where she is receiving around the clock care.

Through patient donations, we have collected $2,359.00.
Dr. Melissa Jarrell is matching all donations, so the total that will be going to the Buffington family is $4,718.00.

We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from all of our patients!

Everyone is still welcome to donate.  Kristina’s husband has set up a memorial fund at Beacon Federal Credit Union, on North Broadway, in Peru.  Donations can be made at this location, at any time.
