Family and Cosmetic Dentistry of Kokomo Hosts 13th Annual “Smiles for Vets” Event, Providing Free Dental Care to Local Veterans
On Sept. 11, 2026 Family and Cosmetic Dentistry of Kokomo proudly hosted its 13th annual Smiles for Vets event, a day dedicated to honoring and serving the veterans of Central Indiana. This year, the event saw the participation of a dedicated team of dental professionals and volunteers, offering over $36,000 in free dental care to more than 55 local veterans in need.
Our event was made possible by the hard work and generosity of the team at Family and Cosmetic Dentistry of Kokomo, as well as a group of volunteer professionals and community members. Our team members who volunteered were Dr. Jarrell, Dr. Griebenow, Dr. White, Dr. Azim, Rebecca, Pam, Delaney, Elaynna, Merha, Katie, Kate, Stephanie, Rachel, Mattison, Victoria, Covie, Ella, Kaleb, Lete, Christian, , and our Dental Doodle, Teddy. Each year, the Smiles for Vets event addresses the significant challenges many veterans face in accessing essential dental care, particularly through the VA system. Many veterans often find themselves unable to afford or access critical dental treatments, which can lead to poor oral health and diminished quality of life. The Family and Cosmetic Dentistry team has made it their mission to bridge this gap and ensure that these local heroes receive the care, dignity, and respect they deserve.
“Our annual Smiles for Vets event is about more than just dental care – it’s about honoring the sacrifices of our veterans and making sure they have access to the care they need to live their lives with confidence and comfort,” said Dr. Melissa Jarrell, of Family and Cosmetic Dentistry of Kokomo. “We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve those who have served our country, and to provide them with the essential care they might not otherwise be able to receive.”
The day’s services included comprehensive dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and other necessary treatments, all at no cost to the veterans. The event also allowed veterans to connect with local community members and professionals who genuinely care about their well-being.
