Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)

We are proud to offer Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) to our patients to improve healing.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a natural substance derived from your own blood that acts as a “turbocharged” healing agent in dental procedures. By concentrating the body’s natural healing elements into a gel-like membrane, it provides a biological scaffold that speeds up tissue and bone repair.

Core Benefits of PRF

  • Accelerated Healing: PRF contains a high concentration of growth factors (like PDGF and TGF-β) that are released gradually over several days. This leads to faster tissue regeneration and shorter recovery times.
  • Reduced Pain and Swelling: Its natural anti-inflammatory properties help minimize post-operative discomfort. Patients often experience less swelling and a lower need for pain medications.
  • Lower Infection Risk: PRF is rich in leukocytes (white blood cells), which act as natural immune defenders to ward off infections at the surgical site.
  • Completely Natural: Because it is 100% autologous (sourced from your own blood), there is virtually no risk of allergic reactions or rejection by your own body.
Common Dental Applications

PRF is versatile and used across several specialized dental fields:

  • Dental Implants: Enhances osseointegration (the bond between bone and implant) for better stability.
  • Tooth Extractions: Protects the socket and significantly reduces the risk of dry socket.
  • Bone Grafting: Acts as a scaffold to hold bone graft material in place and stimulate new bone growth.
  • Gum Surgery: Supports the regeneration of healthy gum tissue in soft tissue grafting or recession treatments.

How It Works

  1. Blood Draw: A small amount of blood is taken, like a routine lab test.
  2. Centrifugation: The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelets and fibrin.
  3. Application: The resulting concentrated fibrin clot is shaped into a plug or membrane and placed directly into the surgical site.
